Therapy for Trauma

Let’s first talk about what trauma is and isn’t – Trauma is NOT the event itself, but rather the experience. That’s why you can have 2 people who can have almost identical events happen to them but experience them very differently. Trauma is not always the result of major events like accidents or abuse; it can stem from various experiences, big or small, that overwhelm your ability to cope. But how do you know if you've experienced trauma? That’s something we can explore!

Common Trauma Symptoms:

- Intrusive memories
- Nightmares
- Feeling numb
- Heightened anxiety
- Constantly feeling on edge
- Difficulty being present
- Feelings of shame

Trauma shows up differently for everyone. You might find yourself avoiding certain places or situations that remind you of a traumatic event. Maybe you're experiencing difficulty sleeping, concentrating, regulating your emotions, or finding it hard to be present. You might even find yourself feeling “nothing” or “numb.” Together we can explore the ways trauma is showing up for you.
My Approach to Trauma Therapy
At The Therapy Co., I'm here to support you in navigating your experience of trauma and unlinking the impact that it’s having on your current life. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and evidence-based techniques. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences and tell your story at your own pace.

Some people find it really helpful to process their trauma verbally and some don’t ever want to. The best part? You’re in the driver seat. You don’t ever have to verbally recount your traumatic experience to heal from it if you don’t want to. In addition to talk therapy, I also incorporate approaches like brainspotting that offer alternative paths to healing and rewiring the brain.

Whether you've recently experienced a traumatic event or you are still dealing with unresolved trauma from the past, I’ve got your back, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
About Elyce Mandich, LCSW
I provide online therapy for clients in California and specialize in support with trauma. My therapeutic approach is deeply influenced by my personal experiences and over a decade of working with those who have experienced significant trauma. Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of empathy, human connection, and cultivating a sense of belonging. My approach is tailored to each individual, recognizing that while our experiences are unique, the need for understanding and belonging is not – that’s something we all want and deserve.

My goal is to empower you to not only acknowledge but also embrace your unique story and experiences. This journey involves finding acceptance and moving forward by navigating through your challenges. Together, we can navigate the challenging but rewarding experience towards healing through:
